How does the BirdCam work?
Wingscapes designed it to be very easy to use within minutes of unpacking. Simply aim the BirdCam wherever a bird will land and leave it outside. While you’re away, the BirdCam's infrared sensor watches for bird activity. When activity is detected, the BirdCam automatically takes digital photos, videos(with sound!) or a combination of the two (depending on how it is programmed by the user).
Advanced BirdCam 2.0 Features
The BirdCam 2.0 is packed with advanced features that expand your bird photography options. In addition to the motion-sensitive mode (referred to as AUTO mode), the BirdCam 2.0 can take digital photos or videos at a specific time interval (TIMELAPSE mode) or be used as a regular digital camera (MANUAL mode).
The Setup menu includes "EASY" photo and video programs which will handle most backyard applications. If you want more control, the Setup menu lets you program Photo or Video, Photo Resolution, Delay, Number of Images per Event, Time/Date/Location imprint, Sensitivity of the infrared sensor, Erase Images and Diagnostic Test. These controls provide flexibility that is helpful when using the BirdCam 2.0 for different types of bird photography. The 8.0 Megapixel capability has High(3264x2448), Medium(2024x1536) or Low Photo(1024x768) resolution options. Video is shot in AVI format at 640x480 resolution. Built in Memory Card is 32 MB and the Lens Field of View is 52 degrees(roughly equivalent to a 46mm focal length in film camera). The camera operates on 4 D-cell batteries and should last approx. 9-12 weeks depending on usage. Focus Range is 18 inches to infinity.
Mounting the BirdCam
Setting the BirdCam up is extremely easy. Adjustable focus keeps your bird photographs sharp at any distance 18-inches or farther and a laser aiming device helps insure aim is accurate. Specially engineered to discriminate against non-bird movement, the BirdCam will rarely be triggered by a swinging feeder or moving plant. Included with the BirdCam is a pair of stretch cords that can be used to attach the BirdCam to any stationary object, such as a post or tree. A standard tripod mount on the bottom attaches to any standard tripod or the optional BirdCam Mounting Arm availalbe below. The BirdCam is rugged and built to be used outdoors. It is intended to sit and wait where the human eye can't (or won't).
Accessing BirdCam Photos and Videos
Retrieving and using your bird photos and videos from the BirdCam will be a snap for anyone who has used a digital camera. Just download your bird photography or bird videos to your computer using the included USB cable or an optional memory card. You can also view your bird photography on a television by using the included TV Out cable. Once on a computer, your bird photos and videos are easy to save and share with others - by printing, emailing, or posting to the web. Your growing collection of bird photos and videos will be great for creative projects like personal field guides, calendars, web sites and gifts. |
