S&K Best Purple Martin House

This house was a gift to a young family with a new house and a fenced backyard living in middle Tennessee. We want to support a fun family activity since they spend lots of time outdoors. It was easy to assemble and we bought the pole to make it easy to install. The house felt fragile and is of thin plastic, so we hope it hold up in a heavy wind. We wish there had been more information about purple martins enclosed

Received the Purple Martin house promptly and in good order. The house was very easy to assemble with very good directions.

Not sure yet if you can buy buy parts so I am buying another house I have two now and this will be a intact house for their return
I have had and still have 2 of these houses and they are about ten years old or so, they do not stay up once the martins are gone houses come down get washed and adjusted or what ever getting stored for next year. the only thing that has failed is the swing up half moon hole hinged door or in other words the clean out door, the plastic support snap in hangers has failed allowing it to drop and not stay where it belongs.
yes I could fabricate something and make it work but our martins do not need a make shift house when they are used to a esthetically pleasing structure to raise their offspring.
I do recommend these houses and with a little care and respect they will suffice for years. One note: buy some Krylon or equivalent spray paint for plastic the roof will fade, I washed first and let dry then apply a color green for the roof and let dry.
usually one coat is enough, then apply a clear coat for the entire house and let dry and either put house in use or put it away, this is what I do and it will prolong its life and look good doing it and your martins will appreciate it too.

I had been using their house for several years. Most economical and the Martins use it. Seems to discourage the grackles. Accessible for cleaning at the end of the season.

I emailed and still hadn’t received the pole bracket for the birdhouse.
