The Bufflehead, with its striking white sides and white patch on its head, is smaller than most cavity nesting ducks. They have become dependent on nest boxes and this house is ideal due to the scarcity of holes excavated by a large woodpeckers or flickers which these ducks naturally use for nesting.
Designed specifically for the nesting preferences of Bufflehead Ducks, this Coveside Bufflehead Duck House will provide ideal shelter.
Range: Buffleheads breed primarily in Alaska and North/Central Canada and occassionally in the Northern most US. They winter in southern U.S., south to Mexico, the Gulf Coast and northern Florida.
Habitat: Prefers nesting on wooded lakes and ponds. In their winter range, they prefer salt bays and estuaries.
Material: Crafted of natural wood, the side panel opens to allow for easy clean-out at the end of the nesting season.
