Double Ringed Red Cedar Heated Bird Bath

Bowl is very shallow and needs frequent monitoring and filling. Pre-drilled holes in legs are misplaced so the base is not level. Required placing various stones and shims to balance. The stakes for holding unit were very nice. The wood was much rougher than expected.

After i month of use, and we've had some cold days, the heated portion of this nicely crafted bird bath stopped working.

The bowl is actually one from an inexpensive brand available on Amazon. It's very shallow (less than an inch), so it needs to be watched carefully and refilled frequently. In addition, if you assemble the stand using the pilot holes and cut lines of the legs as guidelines, the bath isn't level. This makes the shallowness of the bowl even worse, because of course one side is at the brim before the bowl is at full capacity. You can't tell from the pictures, but the wood is rough (not sanded), which makes it difficult to clean off bird poop. The heated bowl does work, at least down to about 20°F it has been so far, but I would not choose this bath again.

The product was easy to assemble and very attractive. The only thing to improve would be to have the "bath bowl" a little deeper, although I do like the construction of the bowl to have the center higher than the edges so water will always flow to the edge as the water level goes down. Overall a good product and the birds (and deer) love it.

I needed to replace my heated bird bath that I had for many years. The Looker Heated Bird Bath is pretty much identical to the one I had except for the heated saucer being a little shallower. The birds love this bird bath all year long. In summer, I simply don't plug in the saucer. I kept this bath on the deck. I never had to anchor it; wind, snow, or driving rain never tipped it over. Some how, birds seemed to find it even when buried in snow. Maybe the steam coming from the open center of the volcano shaped dome of snow was the tip off. Birds made use of the warmed water for drinking and bathing, even in sub zero temperatures. On a few occasions I accidentally let the bath go dry; Mourning Doves would sit in it to keep warm. Assembly of this bath was easy enough, perhaps because I had one just like it. There are pilot holes to show where to place most of the screws and then I used a power drill to screw them into the post. Pilot holes to show placement are not available on the post itself. Directions that showed what to do first would have been helpful. I did the legs, then attached the saucer arms to the post, and then attached the arms to the top. I also used a level to make sure placement of the arms onto the post were accurate. Delivery of my purchase was very quick.

I really like this bird bath. I find that my birds like it also. No bathers yet but plenty of drinkers. Warning though: you will need to drill the holes in order to screw on the legs and the directions are useless.
