I purchased this house and put it up in early winter. The bats found it this spring and now (mid June) it must be full as I can see the bats lined up at the bottom of the house and sometimes one or two more that are perched on the landing area as there is no room in the house.
I put it on the south side of my own house as I did not want to fool around with a pole. It's about 14 feet up and about three feet below my house eve.
The house is well built from good materials and very well thought out. The bats love it!
